To a time when crooners like Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong were turning jazz into a popular art form.
Swing Central recreates the mood and ambience of the fabulous forties and fifties, to celebrate the class and style of times gone by, For older folk, we hope to rekindle memories of the first time they heard these songs, and for the younger audience expose them to a style and elegance they’ve only seen in grainy black and white.
Indulge in a Martini, sit back and relax to the smooth crooning vocals of Mr Brad Leaver. As sophisticated and profound as anything by Tony Bennett, Brad
combines Ph.D. Intellect with caveman machismo, mixed in a blender of pure swing, guaranteed to grab even the most Sinatra proof listener way down at the bottom of the soul. With the addition of some of Brisbane’s finest musicians, the results can only be described as breathtakingly authentic.

Scat Plays Jazz!
SCAT is a 4 piece jazz combo, specialising in original gospel music and jazz standards. This incomparable Brisbane-based act has been bringing entertaining jazz to the masses for 7 years. SCAT brings together Queensland’s best musical talent with Jeremy O’Connor on double bass, Trent Bryson-Dean on drums, Chris Poulsen on keys and Craig Burnett on vocals. Their energy, humour, crowd interaction and musical genius has earned them a reputation as a brilliant live act. With the release of their fifth album in We Dig Christmas in Nov 2007 SCAT has entered a new season in their recording career. Fresh big band, latin and swing arrangements along with the odd parody secured them airplay around the country, most notably on ABC’s Christmas day programming. SCAT continues to receive touring opportunities and distribution both nationally and overseas.
Musically, think of artists like Harry Connick Jr, Jamie Callum and Michael Buble. Their approach to live performance however takes improvisation to the next level. These guys will not rest until the crowd is tapping, laughing and calling for more! Wherever & whenever they play they leave an absolutely unforgettable impression on audiences.
Wendy Murray
Wendy is a singer, songwriter, dancer and instrumentalist who has made her career as a performing artist. She enjoys Jazz, Blues, Pop, Latin and Cabaret.
Wendy is currently the lead singer and driving force behind both Latin Jazz Orchestra Hot Mambo and her Jazz ensemble The Wendy Murray Quintet who regularly performs nationally and internationally.
Wendy has style and elegance. Her voice is deep, rich and warm as honey adapting effortlessly to the mood of the moment. She sings many popular favourites in addition to the jazz standards made famous by Billie, Sarah, Carmen, Ella, Dionne, Barbara and Nina.
Wendy has the ability to captivate her audience with her naturalness, her gentle sincerity and cheeky playfulness. She’ll take you down memory lane and make your night fun and fabulous.
